Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Thirupattur

It is said that a person’s fate is determined before his birth – and cannot be changed. But every rule has an exception doesn’t it?? ;) It is believed that a person can change his fate by seeking blessings at Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Thirupattur.

TEMPLE HISTORY

We’ve all seen Lord Brahma’s pictures with 3 faces. Few of us know that he actually has 4 heads. Fewer still know that he once had 5 heads!!!

Lord Brahma once became very proud that he was the creator of the universe. He felt he was more powerful than Lord Shiva – since he had the power of creation. Seeing his pride Lord Shiva got angry and destroyed Brahma’s 5th head and also cursed him that he would lose his powers of creation.

After losing his fifth head and the duty of creation, Brahma realized his mistake. He worshipped Shiva at various places to be relieved from the curse. At Thirupattur, he worshipped Shiva with 12 lingams and got liberated from his curse. He also got back his power of creation.

Since the ill fate of Brahma, the creator, himself was changed to good by Lord Shiva at Thirupattur, one can expect a turning point in life by visiting this temple.
